The Committee
thanks all the children, schools and parents who participated in
thisyear's contest. This year the entries were judged on Wednesday
May 15th! The winning entries for each grade from
this year are viewable on this page.
Awards
night was held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at
Father Smith Hall. Over 150 participants
and family members filled the Hall. It was a lovely ceremony which
lasted until about 9 pm. Rabbi Morton Pomerantz offered a beautiful
invocation, Chairman Jim Rodgers spoke about the history of Memorial
Day. Our neighbor, Jim Fox, a military veteran, presented the medals.
Refreshments
were served by our volunteers, including Rosemary & Joe Dubowski,
Janet Bishop, Irene Cheung, Ralph Barba and several others. Il Sapporo
afforded us a generous discount on the pizza. We raffled off a selection
of gift cards and baskets donated by area merchants as well as two
beautiful china vases donated by CA Antiques.
The winning
art and essay projects are available for public display on our web
site.
All winners
are invited to march in the Memorial Day Parade starting
in the Third Division under a special
banner supplied by the Committee .
Many teachers,
principals, parent coordinators and family members attended the
awards ceremony. All winners received age appropriate educational
prizes. The Grand Prize winners each received a $500 check.
Again, many
thanks to all for your support.
God bless
America!
Sincerely,
Barbara
