Ragusa served for many years as the pro-bono accountant for
the Parade, the United War Veterans and many other community
organizations. A native New Yorker, he attended New York City
Public schools and graduated from New York University with
a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Phil Ragusa served
honorably in the National Guard and the Army Reserve. He was
a Certified Public Accountant with a practice in Whitestone
specializing in helping individuals, small businesses and
not-for-profit organizations. Phil served as the president
of the Beechhurst Property Owners' Association and vice president
of the Americans of Italian Heritage. He was the treasurer
of the Whitestone Revitalization Committee, a member of The
Greater Whitestone Taxpayers Association and the Elks (B.P.O.E.
Lodge 1). Phil served on the Fort Totten Advisory Committee.
Phil served as a delegate to many presidential conventions
and was Chairman of the Queens County Republican Committee.
It is safe to say that Phil played one of the most important
roles in the history of the Little Neck Douglaston Parade.
He passed away in June of 2014. May he rest in peace.
